Folk singer passes away

KARACHI: Sohrab Fakir Khaskhely, a renowned folk singer of Sindh, passed away in his native village near Khairpur on Friday night. He was suffering from a kidney disease and was admitted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Karachi for treatment, but he returned to his village Talpur Wada, as the doctors were unable to cure him.

He started his career on Radio Pakistan, Khairpur with the famous raag of Gamdil Fakir, Galiyan Prem Nagar Diyan, and he became famous nationwide. He performed in many countries around the globe. Sohrab Fakir was given the Sachal Award for his achievements. In a press statement, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has expressed grief over the singer’s demise. staff report
